Evaluation question1 FINAL

  A particular magazine i used as inspiration was POP magazine, i have taken details from the limited edition 'the 80's excess issue' magazine collection covers to enhance my own design, for example i love the simple and effective deign of pop magazine here, i like how the text was lined up down the side and on the top around the main image, i also liked another couple of feautures from the front cover for example the way they named the issues rather than having your standard issue1,2,3.. etc, so from this i made the decision i was going to call my magazine 'The fresh music issue' because with it being the first issue this means all the fresh music is introduced, i also liked the way the barcode sits in the corner being slightly stretched width ways so i have used this on my cover.

Another magazine i loved the fun style of is VIBE magazine, features i have decided i like from vibe magazine are the way the masthead sits, 'VIBE' is a short word so its able to be made in a bold font and large text with strapline sitting above it i decided i liked this and wanted to test it with my masthead on the cover! 

i decided to call my magazine 'MUSIQ' because i liked the simple short and catchy title but gave it a twist by using the letter 'Q' at the end of the word, i think this is a catchy music magazine name that develops the use of other music magazine names and also fits into the genre i have chosen. in both of the magazine images above the magazine hav used quite a close up image of the artist, so compared to these two, by using a midshot image i am challenging the camera angles used on the cover of magazines i have researched into, i have chosen to use my model stood in a fun and confident position, i think that people looking at the magazine on the shelf would look at the model and think fun and quirky and would want to be her or be friends with her because it looks like shes having fun, i have tried to represent fun again also with the mustache drawing on the finger because i think its different and it works effectively. clothing on my model- i have gone for on trend and bright clothing to bring in some colour and pattern.
i think my magazine challenges forms of other music magazines already out there because i havent used a busy cover and erratic layout to my cover contents, dps, but i have gone for a simple layout and in the end chosen just black and white because i believe they are the two colours that bounce of each other the best rather than introducing a third i decided to keep it simple with with a poppy picture to contrast and catch the eyes of readers.
